چکیده

The paper studies the problem of nonlinear feedback control design of non-isothermal Continuously Stirred Tank Reactors (CSTR). The objective is to construct a feedback controller such that a desired equilibrium of the closed-loop dynamic is asymptotically stable and such that the closed-loop vector field is a conservative vector field of a particular type, i.e., a gradient system. Properties of gradient systems in terms of dissipativity and their importance in the study of interconnected systems in the context of plantwide process control will be briefly discussed. The proposed technique is based on a decomposition of the open-loop vector field in terms of a dissipative part and a non-dissipative part. The latter is then cancelled through state feedback, in such a way that the closed-loop vector field associated to the system is divergence free. A numerical example is used to illustrate the proposed approach.

Chaos Control in a Non-Isothermal Autocatalytic Chemical Reactor

In this paper, a reaction system consisting of two parallel, non-isothermal autocatalytic reactions in a Continuous Stirred Tank Reactor (CSTR) has been considered. Reactor chaotic behavior is possible for certain values of system parameters. Two types of controllers are designed and compared in order to control both the reactor temperature and the product concentration. T...

Infinite Dimensional Port Hamiltonian Representation of Chemical Reactors

Infinite dimensional Port Hamiltonian representation of non isothermal chemical reactors is proposed in the case of mass transport diffusion and chemical reaction without convection. The proposed approach uses thermodynamic variables. The presentation is given for one dimensional spatial domain by using the internal energy and the opposite of the entropy as hamiltonian functions.

Thermodynamic approach for Lyapunov based control

This paper focuses on non linear control of non isothermal Continuous Stirred Tank Reactors (CSTRs). The model of the CSTR is thermodynamically consistent in order to apply the control strategy based on the concavity of the entropy function and the use of thermodynamic availability as Lyapunov function. More precisely the stabilization problem of continuous chemical reactors is addressed operat...

Hamiltonian formulation and IDA-PBC control of non isothermal continuous stirred tank reactors

This paper proposes a pseudo port Hamiltonian formulation of non isothermal Continuous Stirred Tank Reactor CSTR) model. This structured modeling shows how the opposite of the entropy can be used as Hamiltonian function and how the associated dissipation can be related to the irreversible entropy production due to chemical reaction. The IDAPBC approach based control is then applied to stabilize...

Non-Isothermal Degradation Kinetics of High Energy Protons Irradiated Polyvinyl Butyral

This research is aimed to undertake a comparative study on stability and thermal degradation kinetics of un-irradiated and high energy protons irradiated polyvinyl butyral (PVB) based on weight loss analysis and non-isothermal approaches. The weight loss by the un-irradiated PVB upon heating was found to be in two stages but due to high energy protons accelerated exposure following by chemical ...
